Celebrating a partnership that put people at the heart of retrofit
We are incredibly proud to announce that LivGreen, alongside our valued partners Golden Lane Housing, has been awarded Collaboration of the Year at the Net Zero Awards 2026.
This prestigious award recognises the success of our partnership in delivering energy efficiency improvements across 54 homes for people with learning disabilities and autistic people through the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF) Wave 2.1 programme.
The award celebrates more than technical excellence—it recognises a shared commitment to delivering retrofit projects in a way that puts people first.
A partnership built on trust
Working with Golden Lane Housing, a national provider of homes for people with a learning disability and autistic people, we developed a delivery model that balanced high-quality retrofit works with personalised support for every tenant.
Each of the 54 homes presented unique challenges, from varying property types and technical requirements to ensuring works were carefully planned around individual routines, support arrangements and communication needs.
Together, our teams ensured that every stage of the project was accessible, respectful and carefully coordinated, working closely with families, carers and support providers to create a seamless experience for tenants.
Delivering meaningful impact
Across the programme, we successfully delivered:
- 8 air source heat pump installations
- 42 solar PV systems
- 43 loft insulation upgrades
- 5 high heat retention storage heaters
- 3 internal wall insulation installations
- Supporting remedial works and internal decoration
- Managed decants and temporary accommodation where required
- High levels of tenant satisfaction and improved home comfort
By tailoring every installation to the needs of each household, we not only improved the energy performance of homes but also enhanced comfort, reduced disruption and helped create healthier living environments.
Putting tenants first
A defining feature of the project was the collaborative approach between LivGreen and Golden Lane Housing.
Property-specific information packs were created for every home, providing clear, accessible information about the works and ensuring tenants and their support networks understood what to expect throughout the process.
Golden Lane Housing colleagues attended property visits alongside the LivGreen delivery team, enabling real-time decision making, maintaining continuity for tenants and ensuring any concerns could be addressed immediately.
Works were scheduled around tenants' daily routines, including mealtimes, medication schedules and support visits, ensuring that retrofit improvements were delivered with dignity, care and respect.
One tenant, who temporarily moved into hotel accommodation during the works, described the experience as reassuring and well managed, praising the regular communication and support throughout the project. After returning home, they reported a warmer, more comfortable property and were delighted with the quality of the improvements, including thoughtful finishing touches such as USB plug sockets.
Recognition for collaborative excellence
Winning Collaboration of the Year is a testament to what can be achieved when organisations work together with a shared vision.
This project demonstrates that successful retrofit is about far more than installing low-carbon technologies—it is about understanding people, building trust and delivering improvements that genuinely enhance everyday lives.
We would like to thank everyone involved in making this project such a success, including our dedicated LivGreen colleagues, the exceptional team at Golden Lane Housing, our delivery partners and, most importantly, the tenants who welcomed us into their homes.
Together, we've shown that person-centred retrofit can deliver outstanding environmental outcomes while creating lasting positive change for the communities we serve.
We are honoured to receive this recognition and look forward to continuing to deliver retrofit projects that combine technical excellence with compassion, collaboration and lasting social impact.
