By 2050 all UK homes must become net zero carbon to meet government climate change targets. Statistics published by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government in May 2022 revealed that more than half of existing domestic properties in England surveyed had an energy efficiency rating (EPC) below C. The government’s clean growth strategy aims to improve this, with a target of social homes reaching an EPC rating of C or above by 2030.
